talking heads stage

Working with End of the Road Festival, bahm designed a new stage to replace the Comedy Stage, which had fallen into disrepair.

The brief was to create a memorable structure on a tight budget. Using parametric design tools, we developed a curving timber structure referential of the surrounding woodland and reminiscent of the branches overhead. A polycarbonate canopy allows dappled light onto the stage and the open back frames views of the Dorset countryside beyond.

The tranquil setting of the Talking Heads Stage comes to life every year, not only for comedy, but for intimate acoustic performances and secret shows.

Performing on the stage was described by comedian Robin Ince as like being a ‘borrower in a Jenga accident’, which we think is high praise indeed.
